will you be next?

From its creation, Lot 135 on Azazel Street has always been a sorry place to be. No life grew in its vicinity, as if it were somehow against nature’s will. Animals stayed far away, as an overwhelming feeling of discomfort crept through them if they got too close. Weather even revolved around it… clouds shrouded it in darkness as the rest of Azazel street bathed in sunlight. However, in the late 1800s, urbanisation continued to grow, and the town was desperate for more residences. The street slowly started filling up with homes. For a long time, workers avoided building anything on the lot, even requesting that the town’s mayor halt construction on the street altogether. This came to no avail. So, despite their better judgement, workers broke ground on Lot 135 on Friday, October 13th, 1899.

Construction of 18 Azazel Street took twice as long as expected, as more and more workers refused to build what they quickly deemed “The Devil’s Home”. Men at work died suspiciously, disappeared mysteriously, and suffered mentally. When the house was finally complete, this same misfortune fell upon its inhabitants. Family after family lived in that house, each completely normal when they moved in, each extremely deranged when they moved out. Despite having seen three fires, seven suicides and twelve homicides, the house still stands to this day, be it out of spite… or cruel intentions.

Its last resident was recently found dead after neighbours reported hearing a bone-chilling scream coming from the house. In his will, Gregory Wallace left his home to his niece Samantha, much to her dismay. Fearful of these cursed halls, she has hired you, experts in paranormal phenomena, to rid her new home of its atrocities. Do so quickly… as its demons will not be kind to you either.

Excellent game! I’m a bit of an escape-room aficionado, so I’ve done loads of rooms across the world, and this one was done pretty good. Good “scary” atmosphere but no jump scares or gross things, so all in all quite mild.
The first part was diverse, with multiple parallel puzzles. The second part was more linear, which means you had to do puzzle 1 before getting to puzzle 2 and so on. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend a party of more than 3/4 people. since you can only really work efficiently on a puzzle with that group size. More people might feel a lot like standing around.
Quality of decorations and locks was very decent. Puzzles were engaging, clever, and made sense – which I find super important. Some fun puzzle mechanics to be seen. You definitely had to think but they weren’t overly complex, so I’d say it was a great fun/difficulty balance.
Staff was friendly, with good English, and did their part well. Offered hints (no penalty) where needed, but you could refuse them. They also handled some technical problems really well and gave us the 2 extra minutes needed at the end to get out (very appreciated).
I’d love to come back and try their other rooms!
